My name is Julia Anderson, and I am a Licensed Physical Therapist. I was searching for two things when I found Neways products. A way to work at home to be with my children with a business that I could feel good about (I have to follow my conscience), and personal care products that were free from sodium lauryl sulfate (or Laureth Sulfate: used as Engine Degreaser, Garage/Concrete Floor Cleaner, Car Wash Soap) and other known toxins and carcinogens (substances known to cause cancer). I became aware of the toxins in our personal care products through friends and health care colleagues such as nurses and naturopaths.

I have fibromyalgia; a condition marked by painful muscles and joints. There is no known definitive cause of fibromyalgia, but people with this disease are more sensitive to irritants and toxins in the environment and one of the possible causes is exposure to these toxins.

After having two children I really became concerned about what toxins I was putting on their skin and mine that may be building up in our bodies and causing them harm as they grow. The most common toxin found in our personal care products is sodium lauryl sulfate. I started looking at labels on my bottles at home and in the grocery store and found it to be difficult to find anything without it. I even found ammonium chloride (along with SLS) in my child’s bubble bath!
