Here's a copy of an email I sent to Mike Wood:
I thought you might like to know that, as a consumer in the market for a nitrous system, you just made the decision for me. I couldn't decide between NOS and Nitrous Express, and the way your company is handling the Schoenberger case is discouraging, to say the least. Yes, he left the bottle heater on. Yes, the valve was off. But as he stated, the disc/cap did not blow at 3000 PSI. Even if your company handled this properly (admitted wrongdoing, even if for no other reason than to save face), an incident such as this on a vehicle not subjected to anything more than mildy aggressive (as opposed to high stress of strict drag cars) use, will scare off business fast enough to make your head spin. Pictures are worth a thousand words.... I hope Nitrous Express learns from this mistake, for the greatest crime would be to learn nothing at all.
In hope of amends,
Michael Stratta (cocktailz@hotmail.com)
Good luck against NX! I love it when us "small folk" win against big business!
Dear Doyle & Victoria Schoenberger,
I cannot believe that the explosion caused as much damage as it did.
Its great that no one got hurt though. If someone had been standing behind the car or in the back seat, it would have been horrible. I emailed nitrous express the letter you see below. Since I also have nitrous on my car I can't help to wonder the outcome. Some companies are very difficult to deal with. I hope they fully compensate you.
Please let me know how nitrous express handles this.
Best Wishes,
Danny Deutsch
This email is in regards to an explosion of a Nitrous Express Bottle in the garage of Doyle & Victoria Schoenberger. I also have nitrous on my car, I never thought a bottle explosion would be that violent. They are very, very lucky that no one was injured. I have no idea of the every details of this case, but I feel if I were you it would only be morally right to fully reimburse Doyle & Victoria Schoenberger for all damages and then some. Could you imagine the inconveinces that it must have caused. I know as a president of a company you are not eager to give out a lot of money, but that is were your ethic's should take over.
After all If your product had not malfuntioned this would not have happened. You should put yourself in their shoes and think about it. I in no way know the Schoenberger's, I found their page on the net from a message board. I know that if this happened to you, you would want to be compensated. I hope you do whats right.
Sincerely,
Danny Deutsch
Just saw your pictures and read your account of the "Nitrous Bottle" explosion.
I can not believe the amount of damage that caused! All I can say is, thank God no one was in the car, and that your family is safe.
I hope your legal battles prevail, and pray nothing like this ever happens again.
Thanks,
VP
Wow!
That's scary! I never would have guessed, that it would do so much damage.
I've turned my bottle heater on long before I use it. I doubt I'll let it soak up the heat for long anymore.
Glad your ok. Hope insurance covers your damages.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I am glad to hear no one was injured. If it helps, I had been trying to decide on a nitrous kit for my mustang and your willingness to share your experience WILL prevent me from purchasing a it from nitrous express.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Jeff Galyon
Doyle & Victoria,
Thank you for sharing your "by the grace of God" experience with me.
We are blessed aren't we.
Margie
Doyle,
Those are wild pictures! The damage is amazing. Also thank God this stuff wasn't flammable and that the explosion didn't ignite something that is flammable (like the gasoline in the vehicles). Now that we are homeowners too, I know how important our homes are and how they really are gifts from God. This was obviously a lame attempt by satan to ruin this gift God gave you. He loses again!
Besides the esplosion, I hope everything is else is going well.
Jonathan
Your page was posted on the Mustang board I go too. Wow that sucks about your car hope you came out ok on it.
I wanted to ask you about the magnet stickers. Where did you buy the magnet sheets to put the stickers on? what is the best to buy to stick on the car and not fall off.
Thanks
Moody
Man I'm going to have to hook my bottle heater switch to part time power so I don't have the same thing happen. I have the Nitrous Express kit just like yours with all the features and the bottle is usually off. But I must say you've really opened my eyes to what can happen. I was shocked to see that the blow off valve didn't do it's job. I mean that one of the reasons I got the Gen-X upgrade. I personally think NX should be held liable for the damage. It nice to know that nobody was hurt though. Thanks for the waking experiance.

Hi Doyle...
I've been spreading the URL of your webpage to lots of my car buddies on the newsgroups...they are amazed at the damage, as am I...
One question, though...
Did your insurance company (car or home) cover any of the damage? Since this was caused by a piece of non-standard equipment, I'd be surprised if they covered anything...
Your experience is another reason why I won't use the bottle on my cars...
Take care!
Gerard
First let me say how fortunate that God watched over you and your family that no one was hurt in what could have been a fatal accident. Cars, houses, and material things can be replaced; lives cannot.
I commend you for sharing this incident so that others who use Nitrous will be warned of potential danger.
Mostly, I sincerely hope you seek legal action against the company because next time (if there is a next time) someone could be killed. This should serve as a "wake up" call to the vendor and as a businessman myself I have to say that unfortunately the only times business listens is when money is involved (or lost.) Sue for compensatory and punitive damages if at all possible.
Stay the course and don't give in.
Regards and best wishes,
Kurt Bunting
It is times like this that test men's souls. I can only imagine how negatively this tradegy has affected the two of you, but instead of dwelling in self-sorrow, the two of you are being brave about this and trying to help save the lives of countless other owners of Nitrous Express, and all NOS kits, in that matter, by demanding that these companies keep up their word about their product being "safe". Your family was truly saved by God's grace, and no amount of propert damage can equal the injury of a human being. Looking at your photos, it is truly a miracle that no one was injured. Insurances can pay for damage, new cars can be bought, and cracks can be repaired - but a human life can never be replaced. So, as I feel you pain and suffering, I also feel a great happiness and joy that no one was injured. And remember, what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger. I wish you the best of luck in the future.

P.S. I believe I might have to rethink getting a NOS kit for my Toyota Supra. The possible hazards far outweigh the benefits, which for me, since I am not a drag-aholic, are not that great.
A buddy of mine led me to your home page. After looking through the pictures, and reading the statements... an item comes to mind. It seems to me that the manufacturer of the NO2 system should have built a thermal sensor into the system to prevent the tank from overheating? Also, shouldn't there have been an "overload timer" on the heating blanket to keep it from running for 2.5 hours?
I'm not that familiar with NO2 systems, but I don't think that you'd be running down the highway for 2.5 hours with the bottle running. Hope this helps!
Hi,
Your message is being spread around the automotive world very quickly. I've noticed a lot of people asking what happened with your insurance company and about the response (if any) from NX. The general feeling I'm getting is that you have asked NX to compensate you in some way for the damages and they have denied responsibility?
Glad that no one was hurt in the explosion. It's a shame to see such a well maintained and tastefully modified car come to an end in that way. Hopefully NX will realize that their response to this matter will be the deciding point for the future sales of their product anywhere on this planet!
Good luck

(nitrous lover but now glad I've always used the NOS brand!)
I read about your ordeal on the www.3si.org bulletin board, and I am shocked to say the least!! I am SOOO happy and relieved that no one was killed. A compressed cylinder is like a big pipe bomb going off and if someone was near the car when it happened, they would have been killed for sure!! I can tell you that I believe that God was watching over you and protecting you and your family. God does happened to work in very mysterious ways, and this cannot be disputed!!
I do believe that the appropriate agencies should be contacted such as the NHTSA, NTSB, Consumer Safety Bureau, etc., to FORCE a mandatory inspection and possible recall of defective Nitrous units by Nitrous Express and others such as NOS, Nitrous Works, etc. etc., as many of these Nitrous companies get their "hard parts" from the same suppliers, it is possible that the other NOS companies have the same safety issues. I believe that it should be your duty to investigate this so no other mishaps like this occurs to someone else! Next time someone might not be so lucky, and they may get hurt or even killed!!
I hope for the best for you and your family!!
Take Care,
Brian

You're welcome by the way
for covering your site. I hope it gets the much attention it deserves, and you get restitution from the NOS vendor.
My hotsites usually go in "themes" and when I thought of NOS, I thought of speed. When I thought of speed, I thought of the JATO Hoax that went out years ago. Nothing to poke fun at you, just me typing about cars that go fast.
>From your own signature:
> The Darwin Awards: Jet Assisted Take-Off
> - Nitrous/JATO, things people will do for speed. :-)
You see the same "theme" that I do. The need for speed.
If you knew me, you'd know I'm a car nut - I've restored 64 Corvair's, 65 Mustangs, 65 Continental Convertibles, lowered, slammed, shaved, tucked and remote controlled everything I could I two mini-trucks, and can't stand acar with factory rims.
BTW: You were not mentioned on the TV show broadcast! Amazing considering the amount of traffic your received Eh? I only covered you as a weekly hotsite covering interesting things that I have "turned up" though scouring the net.
Thanks for watching our show, and I'm sorry your web hosting service shut you down. Make those photo's 72 DPI (Luis wrote some GREAT articles on web
pictures) as that's all that a monitor can handle and your traffic will go WAY down!
I am sorry this happened to you, your home, and your tricked out Maxima, and I am glad that I have done my job spreading the word on the dangers of NOS through your most descriptive web site!
